Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal can be long-term and a potentially permanent method of hair reduction. It involves using a beam of light over the skin which targets the chromophore melanin (which is why it is highly important to not have an active tan during treatments), heating that chromophore – hair follicle – to the point of destruction. This inhibits the growth of the hair, shrinking the follicle which will result in hair loss to the targeted area of choice. Laser hair removal is most effective on people who have dark hair and fair skin. It will not work on grey, white, blonde and most red hair as the laser is searching for “dark” pigment.
Is laser hair removal safe?
Yes, this procedure is absolutely safe when performed by a trained professional. All staff at Bare Laser and Skin are fully certified in all fields of Medical Aesthetics. At Bare Laser and Skin we only use lasers approved by Health Canada.
How much does laser hair removal cost?
The cost of laser hair removal is dependant on the area.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
Laser hair removal feels like a rubber band snapping against your skin. Our laser uses cryogen to cool the area of the skin to safely protect the surrounding tissue and reduce any “spicy-ness” you may experience. 10 being super spicy our clients have said LHR feels like a 3!
How many treatments will I require?
Everyone is different based on their hormones and if they are sticking to the plan their technician has created for them. It is important to treat hairs in the first stage (Anagen) of their growth pattern. Generally, most require 6-8+ treatments.
How should I prepare for laser hair removal?
It is very important whilst receiving LHR treatments to cease any threading, plucking and waxing 4 weeks prior to your treatment and during. Only shaving is required as we need the bulb of the hair to be attached.
